Diamond One Day Program - Mondays
What is the Diamond Program?
Diamond is CHEC’s high school program for students in grades 10–12 who are ready to begin dual enrollment while remaining part of a supportive homeschool community.
Students combine college coursework with CHEC classes, academic guidance, career exploration, leadership development, and real-world learning experiences. The program helps students develop the independence expected of college students while still receiving structure, encouragement, and accountability.
Depending on their academic history and goals, students may complete individual college courses, earn significant college credit, or pursue an associate degree while completing their high school diploma. Each family considers the student’s graduation requirements, completed credits, academic readiness, intended major or career interests, and ability to manage a college-level workload when developing a plan.
Diamond is more than a collection of classes. It is a guided transition into college, career, and adulthood.
One Day Program - Monday
Students attend CHEC on Mondays from 9:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m. Monday serves as the central Diamond program day and may include CHEC high school courses, on-campus dual-enrollment classes, Dual Enrollment Lab, business-focused electives, International Studies, and other rotating course offerings.
What Happens on Mondays?
Students participate in a Monday schedule based on their grade level, completed high school credits, dual-enrollment eligibility, and academic pathway.

Dual-Enrollment Guidance and Support
Because every student’s pathway is different, CHEC partners with families by providing guidance, course checklists, planning tools, and information about dual-enrollment opportunities.
Families use these resources to create an academic plan that reflects their student’s high school requirements, college goals, intended major, and plans after graduation. CHEC is here to help families understand their options and feel more confident navigating the process.
Course and Pathway Guidance
CHEC provides information about courses that may satisfy high school graduation requirements or contribute toward a college degree. Diamond Pod students may also spend time exploring options and discussing possible courses with their facilitator and peers.
Families take the lead in researching college programs, majors, prerequisites, transfer policies, and degree requirements before making final course selections. CHEC provides tools and guidance to support these decisions, while families confirm current requirements directly with the college or university.
Families seeking individualized support may schedule a separate academic consultation for a more detailed review of their student’s records, requirements, and educational goals.
A Partnership for Student Success
Students are most successful when CHEC, parents, and students work together. Students practice taking greater ownership of their college coursework, parents remain connected to their progress and provide support at home, and CHEC offers guidance, encouragement, and accountability along the way.
Parents can also attend a virtual parent office hour for general questions about dual-enrollment procedures, resources, and next steps.
Uniform Expectations
Diamond students are expected to arrive dressed appropriately for each program day and experience.
While at CHEC, Diamond students wear the designated professional uniform from Flynn O’Hara, helping them practice presenting themselves appropriately in academic, professional, and community settings. For specific uniform guidelines, please see our handbook.
Attire for field experiences, service projects, or special events may vary. Any changes will be communicated in advance.

CHEC Experiences
Field Trips
As part of the CHEC Experience program, junior high students participate in one field trip each semester. These hands-on experiences are designed to extend learning beyond the classroom, allowing students to explore new environments, connect classroom lessons to the real world, and engage in meaningful, experiential learning opportunities that support their academic and personal growth.
Class Trips
Starting in 5th grade, students at CHEC embark on overnight class trips as part of their CHEC Experiences program, marking an exciting milestone in their learning journey. These trips allow students to explore new environments, build independence, and strengthen relationships with their peers outside the classroom. Overnight trips in particular hold special value — they encourage teamwork, self-reliance, and confidence, while deepening students’ sense of community and curiosity about the world around them. Each trip becomes a meaningful extension of the classroom, blending adventure with personal growth.
Monday Electives
Our Monday Diamond program offers a rotating selection of electives and classes, which may include on-campus dual-enrollment courses through Southeastern University (SEU) that allow students to earn both high school and college credit. These opportunities allow students to broaden their experiences, develop practical skills, and explore new interests.

Introduction to Psychology -
On campus Dual Enrollment course through SEU Students who have completed Geometry/English 2
Introduction to Psychology is an on-campus dual-enrollment course offered through Southeastern University (SEU), allowing eligible students to earn both high school and college credit. Students will explore human thought, emotion, and behavior while studying topics such as learning, memory, development, personality, mental health, and social interaction.
The course is taught by Dr. John Dyben, Chief Clinical Officer at Hanley Center. Dr. Dyben holds a Doctor of Health Science and has extensive academic and professional experience in psychology, mental health, family therapy, and clinical leadership.
Marketing Principles 1- Junior Achievement
This course introduces students to foundational marketing concepts and techniques, including consumer behavior, market segmentation, branding, ethics, and the marketing mix of product, price, place, and promotion. Through real-world case studies and hands-on projects, students will develop marketing strategies, analyze competition, and explore how businesses reach domestic and global markets. Emphasis is placed on critical thinking, career readiness, and practical application.
Dual Enrollment Lab
In the Dual Enrollment Lab, a teacher will support students as they complete their dual enrollment courses. Assistance will include navigating university student portals, managing assignment deadlines, submitting coursework, and communicating effectively with professors.
International Studies
As part of the program, students are required to take an international studies course, which explores global cultures, economies, and international business practices.
As an extension of this course, students have the option to participate in an international class trip, offering firsthand exposure to the concepts studied. The trip provides immersive experiences, including cultural exchanges, visits to significant historical and economic landmarks, and global networking opportunities.
Entrepreneurship
This course emphasizes innovation, business planning, and leadership skills. Students will learn to identify market opportunities, create business models, and develop entrepreneurial thinking.
Students in this class may also participate in practical projects, including pitching business ideas and competing in local or national entrepreneurship competitions, further honing their skills.
Business Economics - Students who have completed Geometry/English 2
This course introduces students to basic economic concepts, including supply and demand, market structures, government roles, and personal finance. Students will learn how individuals and societies make economic choices and analyze real-world issues like globalization, inflation, and fiscal policy. Emphasis is placed on critical thinking, financial literacy, and understanding how economics affects everyday life.
Digital Media- Students who have completed Geometry/English 2
This course introduces students to the fundamentals of digital design, photography, video production, and multimedia storytelling. Students will learn to create and edit digital content using industry-standard tools while exploring topics like branding, social media, and visual communication. Emphasis is placed on creativity, technical skills, and responsible digital citizenship.

For 10th graders on traditional track, all other students will be dual enrolling
higher level core classes in math, english, science and history
Geometry

Students in 10th grade complete their second HS Math credit with Geometry at CHEC. Those who have completed Algebra 1 and Geometry continue Math through our Dual Enrollment program.

Students attend in person class on Mondays, and virtual class with their same math teacher on Wednesday morning.

High School English 2
-
Students in 10th grade complete their second HS English credit with English 2 at CHEC. Those who have completed English 1 and 2 continue English through our Dual Enrollment program.
English II students will use In Other Words by Not Consumed to master a variety of academic and practical writing styles, including expository essays, research papers, professional correspondence, résumés, and cover letters. Through step-by-step instruction, students will strengthen their writing process, research, critical-thinking, and communication skills while preparing for dual-enrollment English Composition I and II and real-world writing beyond high school.
*Classes have 1.5 hours of instruction each week with their teacher and approximately 1.5 hours of homework a week.
