The Diamond Program is a unique academic initiative designed for high school students in grades 10-12th. This program offers an exceptional opportunity for students to simultaneously earn their high school diploma and complete a two-year college degree by the time they graduate from high school. Each student receives personalized guidance and mentorship from dedicated guidance counselors, ensuring their unique academic and career goals are met. Guidance counselors along with dual enrollment lab specialists work closely with students to create a roadmap for their studies, monitor their progress, and provide accountability to keep them on track for dual graduation. Students receive assistance in selecting courses that align with their intended college major and career aspirations, giving them a competitive edge when transferring to a four-year university or entering the workforce.

Students take a carefully structured combination of high school and college courses that fulfill graduation requirements for both. By the end of the program, they graduate high school with their diploma and an Associate’s Degree.

High School Electives in our four pillars of learning: Business, Fine Arts, STEM and Liberal Arts.
Students follow a 32-week school calendar, attending classes on Mondays and Thursdays from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. On Mondays, they have the flexibility to wear attire of their choice, provided it adheres to the school’s guidelines. On Thursdays, students are required to wear their professional uniform from Flynn O’Hara, fostering a polished and professional learning environment.
On Mondays, all students will participate in International Studies and Entrepreneurship, culminating in an optional class trip abroad to enhance their global learning experience. Additionally, students who have completed the CHEC Math and English program will enroll in specialized courses focused on our business pillar of learning, with personalized guidance to support their academic and professional growth. CHEC Geometry and English 2 is also available on Mondays for 10th graders on a traditional math pathway.
On Thursdays, students have the opportunity to choose electives from a diverse selection, all aligned with our other three pillars of learning: Liberal Arts, STEM, and Fine Arts. This allows students to explore their interests while building skills across multiple disciplines.

CHEC Experiences
Field Trips
As part of the CHEC Experience program, junior high students participate in one field trip each semester. These hands-on experiences are designed to extend learning beyond the classroom, allowing students to explore new environments, connect classroom lessons to the real world, and engage in meaningful, experiential learning opportunities that support their academic and personal growth.
Class Trips
Starting in 5th grade, students at CHEC embark on overnight class trips as part of their CHEC Experiences program, marking an exciting milestone in their learning journey. These trips allow students to explore new environments, build independence, and strengthen relationships with their peers outside the classroom. Overnight trips in particular hold special value — they encourage teamwork, self-reliance, and confidence, while deepening students’ sense of community and curiosity about the world around them. Each trip becomes a meaningful extension of the classroom, blending adventure with personal growth.
Mondays



Geometry

Students in 10th grade complete their second HS Math credit with Geometry at CHEC. Those who have completed Algebra 1 and Geometry continue Math through our Dual Enrollment program.

Students attend in person class on Mondays, and virtual class with their same math teacher on Wednesday morning. Virtual office hour also available for extra student support during the week.

High School English 2

Students in 10th grade complete their second HS English credit with English 2 at CHEC. Those who have completed English 1 and 2 continue English through our Dual Enrollment program.

English II students will complete the Lost Tools of Writing program with book 2 solidifying previously learned concepts and practicing more advanced techniques. Throughout the year they will read and write about literature selections, books, excerpts, articles and practice using and finding sources. English II is preparing our students for their dual-enrollment English Comp 1 and 2 classes.

*Classes have 2.5 hours of instruction each week with their teacher and approximately 2.5 hours of homework a week.

Business Electives

International Studies - All Students

As part of the program, students are required to take an international studies course, which explores global cultures, economies, and international business practices.

As an extension of this course, students have the option to participate in an international class trip, offering firsthand exposure to the concepts studied. The trip provides immersive experiences, including cultural exchanges, visits to significant historical and economic landmarks, and global networking opportunities.

Entrepreneurship - All Students

This course emphasizes innovation, business planning, and leadership skills. Students will learn to identify market opportunities, create business models, and develop entrepreneurial thinking.

Students in this class may also participate in practical projects, including pitching business ideas and competing in local or national entrepreneurship competitions, further honing their skills.

Business Economics - Students who have completed Geometry/English 2
This course introduces students to basic economic concepts, including supply and demand, market structures, government roles, and personal finance. Students will learn how individuals and societies make economic choices and analyze real-world issues like globalization, inflation, and fiscal policy. Emphasis is placed on critical thinking, financial literacy, and understanding how economics affects everyday life.

Digital Media- Students who have completed Geometry/English 2
This course introduces students to the fundamentals of digital design, photography, video production, and multimedia storytelling. Students will learn to create and edit digital content using industry-standard tools while exploring topics like branding, social media, and visual communication. Emphasis is placed on creativity, technical skills, and responsible digital citizenship.

Dual Enrollment Lab - Students who have completed Geometry/English 2
In the Dual Enrollment Lab, a teacher will support students as they complete their dual enrollment courses. Assistance will include navigating university student portals, managing assignment deadlines, submitting coursework, and communicating effectively with professors.
Thursdays Electives
Fine Arts

L.I.F.E in Theatre
High School students actively put on a full theatrical performancel every year. They participate in the whole process of the theatrical production. Not only is theater an incredible tool for teaching many useful life skills, it is often the fondest memory people hold from their own high school experiences.

Photography
Students will learn all sorts of modern photography techniques and learn about texture, shadowing, lighting, focus. Students will use our programs DSLR cameras and actually photograph our different CHEC Events, field trips, productions, and field day. They will also take field trips to take pictures of local landmarks and get to showcase their photography at multiple CHEC events throughout the year.

Improv
This course introduces students to the fundamentals of improvisational theater, focusing on quick thinking, creativity, collaboration, and communication. Through games, exercises, and performances, students will build confidence and develop acting and storytelling skills in a fun, supportive environment.

Art
A study done on Florida students that took in-school arts classes and/or private arts classes throughout their school career showed significantly higher scores on their college placement tests in the verbal and increased scores on their math. Hundreds, if not thousands, of years of evidence support the link between participating in arts programs and higher academic achievement, deeper appreciation of life, greater capacity to empathize, and problem solving abilities. Elementary students take an art class each week .

The Art of Selling In Person
This class is designed for those eager to learn how to successfully sell their art, crafts, or handmade products in person at events like craft fairs and markets. We’ll cover essential skills, including branding, packaging, pricing, photography and videography, visual display, social media marketing, selling etiquette, and small business practices.
STEM

Cooking
Students learn culinary skills on commercial grade kitchen equipment. They will prepare full meals and desserts they get to take home all while they develop the skills necessary to complete them. From baking and marinating, to chopping and mixing, and everything else in between. Students also keep recipe books so they can cook their culinary creations at home.

Canva
From creating content for websites, flyers, and business cards, Canva is used for a variety of subjects and our students will be able to showcase their graphic design skills. These skills can be transferable to multiple fields of business and entrepreneurship.

Financial Literacy
Students will develop essential financial skills by learning how to manage money, create budgets, and understand the basics of saving and investing. Topics include banking, credit, debt, and financial planning. Through practical exercises and real-life scenarios, students will gain the confidence to make informed financial decisions. This course prepares students for financial independence and responsible money management, empowering them with tools for future success.

Intro to AI
This course gives students an overview of artificial intelligence, including machine learning, robotics, and ethical considerations. Students will explore how AI impacts daily life and develop basic skills in problem-solving, data analysis, and AI programming through hands-on projects and discussions.

Google Workspace
Students will master Google Workspace tools, such as Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Drive, to enhance their productivity and collaboration skills. Through hands-on exercises, students will learn how to effectively organize, create, and share documents, presentations, and spreadsheets. This course equips students with the skills necessary to use Google Workspace tools efficiently for school, work, and beyond.
Liberal Arts

Early Childhood Education
Students will go in to our Kindergarten classroom and assist
the teacher with all classroom activities during that period. They will be encouraged to
lead the classroom in an activity or lesson throughout the semester. This is a great
option for students that display an interest or passion in elementary aged education or
working with children.

Dual Enrollment Lab
In the Dual Enrollment Lab, a teacher will support students as they complete their dual enrollment courses. Assistance will include navigating university student portals, managing assignment deadlines, submitting coursework, and communicating effectively with professors.

Debate
Constructing an argument is an art. Students will perform mock trials, debates, arguments, and more. They will learn to communicate effectively, develop public speaking skills, and consider different perspectives. Students love this class and learn the art of debate.

Writing
Studying and teaching everyday writing that pertains to our students is vital to helping them develop in today's world. They will learn writing etiquette, how to present oneself and privacy options across media platforms such as email, text and social media. As these students prepare for the world of online classes whether it be their HS language classes at FLVS or their dual enrollment classes, they will learn how to communicate with teachers/professors for effectively navigating through the online world of classes.

Public Speaking
Public speaking skills are taught in a fun, engaging class based on Toastmasters’ basics, which is a speaking program that has developed leaders in over 100 countries for almost a century. In the logic stage of the trivium, kids love to argue and debate. This class provides them with structured teaching on this process.

Career Readiness
Students will gain essential skills like resume building, interview techniques, and project collaboration. This course equips students to confidently explore career paths, ensuring they are ready to thrive in the professional world.

Physical Education
Knowing that physical activity has a positive influence on concentration, academic performance, and classroom behavior, we strive to provide an environment that supports the relationship of physical activity to cognitive development. P.E. includes unstructured free play as well as organized games and sports instruction.
